Strong French support to Lebanon

Originally published

The visit of the Lebanese prime minister Fouad Sinioura to France came several days before the release of the report of the UN committee on the assassination of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri, and prior to the release of another report on the implementation of UN Security Council resolution 1559.

During this visit, Sinoura received a French commitment of unlimited support in this critical phase with the aim to enhance the state of the law" and to help " in "restructuring the security and judicial departments in Lebanon."

France vowed to mobilize all its potentials in order to support Lebanon at the economic field and to prepare for the international conference for Lebanon's friends due to be held by the end of December in Beirut in order to help Lebanon reduce its general debt which is estimated at 36 billion dollars.

Sinioura, on the other hand, held talks with the UN special envoy on the implementation of UN resolution 1559, Terry Rod Larsen.
