The Independent: War on Iraq created terror, British journalist

British journalist Andreas Wittham Smith said that millions of Britons have previously expected that foreign occupation of Iraq will lead to creating a suitable environment for terrorism instead of overcoming it.

The "British people have stressed that terror will reach British cities after occupying Iraq, so people marched the streets to protest and reject war on Iraq," Smith wrote in an article in British 'The Independent' newspaper published Monday.

He noted that after sending troops to Iraq, the British people expressed hope that troops will help Iraqis rebuild the country and preserve security there, but all was in vain.

The writer said that time has come for the government to make an apology and pull troops out of Iraq.
