Berri: agreements with Syria are in Lebanon's interest
Speaker of the Lebanese parliament Nabih Berri stressed Sunday the importance of all agreements signed between Syria and Lebanon saying "the majority of them flow into Lebanon's interest."
Berri criticized demands for pardoning "the agents" who had cooperated with the Israeli occupation.
On the other hand, he called upon the United Nations to put an end to the Israeli continuous violations of Lebanon's airspace and sovereignty.
"The Israeli violations have been directed against Lebanon, and some of them took place when the UN Secretary General envoy for South Lebanon Geir Pedersen was there," Berri said.
He pointed out to UN suggestion for deployment of the Lebanese army in the south of the country, saying that it is a US demand received by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. "Lebanon has implemented the UN 1624 resolution related to deployment of the army where there are about 5 thousands Lebanese soldiers in the south," he added.
