Syrian grand mufti: Syria enjoys deeply-rooted national unity

Syria's Grand Mufti Sheik Ahmad Badr Eddin-Hassoun underlined that Islam depends on tolerance, stressing that Syria enjoys deeply-rooted national unity.
In a meeting with Belgium and Austrian Ambassadors to Damascus on Tuesday, Hassoun discussed "importance of boosting communication among states and peoples to serve humanity and spread peace," asserting rejection of "terrorism and extremism." Hassoun also received Sheikh Ahmad al-Hijri, religious Leader of the Syrian Druze.
