al-Thawra: Za'anoun underlines pressure on Syria and Palestine violates international law
Speaker of the Palestinian National Council Salim al-Za'anoun hailed the Syrian stances towards pan-Arab issues, on top of which the Palestinian issue.
In a statement to al-Thawra newspaper published Wednesday, Za'anoun said the Palestinian delegation's visit to Syria aimed at saying "pressures on Syria and Palestine violate principles of the international law," asserting that those practices won't affect the Syrian-Palestinian unity of destiny and stance.
He described as having "the most successful dialogues" at the meetings he held with the Syrian officials and Secretary Generals of the Palestinian factions in Damascus, pointing out that his visit to Damascus will reflect positively on the Palestinian people's steadfastness and will boost the "Loyalty Accord" which provides for not shedding Palestinian blood by Palestinian hands.
Regarding Gaza Strip, Za'anoun depicted the situation as bad despite the American-European serious statements about Israeli withdrawal, expressing fear of "a new Israeli scenario prepared by Ariel Sharon to turn Gaza into a large prison besieged by occupation forces."
He also called for holding an immediate meeting for the Al-Quds (Jerusalem) Committee regarding the Israeli attempts to Judaize the city.
