Tenth Baath party congress expects to take driving decisions

One participant in the ruling Baath party congress in Syria, which continues its deliberations in Damascus, said that "the congress will take fundamental driving decisions and will open up a new phase in Syria."

One journalist, Ali Jamalou, said that members of the congress feel "the risks besieging Syria." They "bravely tackled all political issues especially the Lebanese questions, the Iraqi issue and the relations with the USA."

He added that this Baath party congress is the most important "and the volume of the change will be greater and will open up a new phase in Syria." He continued that there is one point "the consensus on the character of President Bahsar al-Assad as a national guarantee, and under this ceiling, there is no taboo that can not be discussed."
