Lemrabet never applied to launch new publication, prosecutor

Originally published

The prosecution at the Rabat first instance court denied that Ali Lemrabet submitted to the court any application to launch a new newspaper.

In a communiqué, sent to the Moroccan news agency MAP, the prosecution said Lemrabet never submitted an application on the matter to the Rabat court.

In this respect, the court prosecutor denied the reports run by some newspapers saying Ali Lemrabet reportedly presented the application for the publication of a newspaper and he would have faced hindrances. Some of the papers claiming he was sent away because the file he presented lacked required documents, and others saying he was banned from meeting the prosecutor.

Hence, the communique said, the information published, quoting Lemrabet, is a sheer lie whose motivation is to spread disinformation and groundless rumours, for if Lemrabet presented any application it would have gone through the relevant legal procedure, in line with the provisions of the press code.
