Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak issued directives to Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Ahmed Al Lethy concerning the immediate implementation of Argin Project where 1.6 million feddans will be cultivated on the Egyptian-Sudanese borders.

This plot will be cultivated with strategic crops which would enhance the Egyptian-Sudanese integration and activate agricultural integration agreements between the two states.

Al Lethy said Thursday, following his talks with the Sudanese Agricultural Minister, that human resource in the project's allocated site will be surveyed to explore whether they will be able to assume the project or Egyptian and Sudanese workers will be transferred to Argin.

He added that a slaughterhouse is planned for in Wadi Halfa to slaughter Sudanese cattle and transfer the meat to Egypt through railway.
