Spanish police detains Teiser Allouni
The Spanish police today arrested in Granada city the correspondent of al-Jazeera TV, Teiser Allouni, while he was heading for his workplace. The police did not give Fatimah Allouni, Teiser's wife, an explanation or reasons for this detention.
In a statement to al-Jazeera, Allouni wife considered that his detention was a personal position taken by the judge of the so-called fighting terrorism Baltsar Garson. Fatimah accused the judge of being obsessed by media campaigning and that he had taken this decision of detaining her husband as he noticed the people and official solidarity shown with Teiser after his decision to detain him in 2003 and accusing him of supporting al-Qaida organization.
She added that the detention decision came in contradiction to the recommendation taken by the Spanish attorney general which called for dropping accusations against Allouni.
The Spanish authorities detained Teiser Allouni who carries the Spanish nationality on September 4, 2003 in the course of investigations carried out by judge Baltsar Garson in the file of what is called al-Qaida cell in Spain.
Five weeks after his detention in " Studiodel Madrid" prison, the judge of the national court in an agreement with Baltsar Garson decided to release Allouni for health reasons at a financial guarantee of 6,000 EUROS.
In addition to the low guarantee, the judiciary did not decide to ban Teiser from traveling and confined to get the consent of judge Garson. A matter which is considered an implicit recognition that evidence against him is not strong.
