Tripoli: Seven Italians of Libyan origin arrived

Originally published

Seven Italians arrived yesterday in Tripoli after 34 years of displacing them from Libya with more than 20, 000 of their citizens in the second year of al-Fateh revolution of September 1969.

The seven Italians, including two women, were all born in Libya in the phase when it was an Italian colony and used to own farms and factories, but the Libyan leader Muammar al-Qathafi expelled all Italians considering them the "remains of fascists Italians" and prevented them from visiting Libya once again.

The Italian ambassador in Tripoli, Claudio Bensifco, considered it as " an important humanitarian gesture by Libya and a positive indicator on the progress relations between the two countries have reached."
