New Israeli attempt to assassinate Khaled Mashaal
Well-informed sources said that the Syrian security forces recently arrested four persons including one woman that admitted they were recruited by the Israeli Mossad to assassinate the chairman of the political bureau of the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement ( Hamas).
The same sources said the persons were in a mission of monitoring Mashaal's house and they came from a neighboring Arab country, the sources refused to identify.
No official comment was issued by the Syrian authorities on this matter.
In Beirut, member of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, Muhammad Nazzal, said that targeting leaderships in the movement is not new, noting that Mashaal was exposed to an earlier assassination attempt in Jordan by the Israeli intelligence.
Nazzal said in statements to the Qatari TV al-Jazeera that the Israeli Mossad can not implement such operations without the help of what he called hirelings from Arab states. He said that this will bring in more responsibilities on the Arab governments.
Nazzal called on the Arab states and its security officials to be careful noting "this is a security matter for these countries, in the first place."
