Germany understands Egypt request for getting UNSC permanent seat

German Foreign Minister Joshka Fischer said yesterday his country understands Egypt's request to have a permanent seat in the UN Security Council in the light of its position on the Arab and African arenas.

Fischer earlier held talks with Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul- Gheit in New York on Sunday on the fringes of the 59th session of the UNEA meetings which dealt with the latest developments in the Middle East, the conditions in Palestine, Iraq and Darfur.
