Hamas and the warrant of arrest against Abu Marzouk
The Islamic resistance movement ( Hamas ) considered that the American administration by issuing a warrant of arrest against Moussa Abu Marzouk, its deputy chairman of the political office, and its detention of two presumed members in it, "a process from which it intends to please the Jewish Lobby at the doors of the American presidential elections."
In a telephone statement with al-Jazeera TV yesterday, member of the political bureau of Hamas Muhammad Nazzal said that the American administration "tries before the approaching American elections to give sacrifices to the Zionist Lobby inside the US in order to raise its popularity under the title of fighting terrorism."
Nazzal who was talking from Beirut, questioned the meaning of reviving accusation previously addressed by the American administration to Abu Marzouk, who was detained in the USA from 1995 to 1997 before he was released and evacuated to Jordan which by its turn expelled him to Syria in 1999.
On the accusations addressed to him by the American administration and to each of the detainees Muhammad Khalil Salah ( 51 ) year old in Chicago and Abdul Hassan Abdul Razzaq al-Ashqar ( 46 year old) in Washington over being members in Hamas, Nazzal stressed that Hamas has no organization inside the USA.
He added " there is a big Palestinian community and there is also an Arab and Islamic community sympathizing in a way or another with Hamas and with the Palestinian resistance and the question of the Palestinian people."
In a press conference yesterday, the US Attorney General said that the two men were arrested over suspicion they are members in the " terrorist Hamas movement" and of addressed accusations to them including helping a terrorist organization and money laundering and looting along the past 15 years.
Worthy mentioning that Abu Marzouk ( 53 year old) lived in the USA in Louisiana and Virginia for years and he was detained before he was evacuated from the USA.
In 1997, the USA classified Hamas officially as " a foreign terrorist organization."
