Egypt denies freezing the activities of the minister of housing
The official spokesman for the Egyptian Cabinet, Majdi Radi, denied news which rumored on security sides inspection for the office of the minister of housing Muhammad Ibrahim Suleiman and that it had ordered freezing of his activities.
The spokesman said that the said minister practices his daily work normally. One of the opposition papers said that the inspection of the office of the said minister came in the course of investigations in accusations of making use of influence and assigning government contracts to consultancy offices owned by his relatives.
These developments came following an argument after arresting the consultant engineer Mamdouh Hamzeh in London who had before accused the minister of using his influence to hand contracts to Suleiman s relatives.
The British authorities last week released Hamzeh at a personal guarantee and prevented him from leaving London until completing investigations with him under the charge of provoking the assassination of officials in Egypt.
Cairo made diplomatic efforts with the British authorities to disclose the implications of the case and by the ultimate end the efforts yielded in releasing Hamzeh.
