American- Yemeni joint maneuvers in the Gulf of Aden on Saturday
A Yemeni official source stressed that the leader of the American central leadership John Abizaid stressed he will pay a visit to Yemen on Saturday in order to attend joint military maneuvers between Yemen and the USA.
The source explained that these land, sea, and air maneuvers will be held in the Gulf of Aden in the presence of the Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and Abizaid, noting that seven machineguns Yemen received last week from the USA will take part in these maneuvers.
Worthy mentioning that Yemen had asked the US to launch a campaign to chase persons accused of being al-Qaida members since the September 11, 2001 attacks. Yemen had also received American support for the campaign it had launched against what is called terrorism.
Gen. Abizaid who assumes the leadership of the American army assigned to coordinate the military operations in the heart of Africa and its east and the Middle East visited last Tuesday Djibouti which includes an American military base where 1800 American soldiers are stationed.
