One killed, 11 wounded in two attacks at the Iraqi civil defense
One member in the Iraqi civil defense forces was killed and another one wounded yesterday in an attack by anti- tanks weapons in al-Muradeyah village, 83 Km to the south of the city of Karkouk.
This coincided with wounding of 11 persons, two in grave health condition, in an explosion which hit the Iraqi civil defense car in Baqouba to the north of Baghdad earlier in the day.
The explosion targeted members of the Iraqi civil defense as they were in a patrol duty in the town which is 65 Km to the north of Baghdad, which witnessed repeated attacks against the Iraqi forces in the past few weeks.
The Iraqi police in the same area explained that the explosion resulted in blowing up an explosion when the patrol was running nearby.
Three Iraqis were killed, including a police officer during a breaking in operation carried out by the American forces for two houses in Beiji city to the north of Baghdad.
During this operation other five persons were detained including a high ranking officer in the former intelligence department.
At the political level, the chairman of the Iraqi Interim Council, Adnan al-Baja Je, said that he will ask the UN to carry out a population census that to be a solid ground to making general elections.
He added in a speech before members of the municipal councils in Baghdad that final touches were put for the Iraq state administration law for the provisional phase, urging all the Iraqis to support the law in order to approve it.
He added that the mechanism of the proposed rule after transferring sovereignty to the Iraqis, expected on June 30 is embodied in forming "a presidential commission composed of three members "via a legislative commission. He explained that the presidential commission will be of authorities and will not be a mere front.
On the other hand, demonstrators in Zee Qar province to the southern part of the country forced the governor of the consultation council and its members to resign and leave the building of the governorate.
The demonstrators, followers of the Shiite leader Muqtada al- Sader, whose number estimated at 12,000, accused members of the council of being appointed by the occupation forces. The demonstrators called for making elections to appoint a new council.
