Algeria: 6 killed in gas refinery explosion

The Algerian official TV announced the killing of 6 workers and wounding other 71 in an explosion which took place on Monday evening in a factory for liquification of natural gas in Skikda ( to the east of the capital Algiers ).

The Algerian news agency and the official TV said that the strong explosion which took place in an area where scores of workers work, resulted in heavy losses, and the wounded were admitted to hospitals in the area.

The petrochemical industrial complex in Skikda which overlooks the Mediterranean includes 6 large units to treat gas and fuels. The Algerian national Sonatrak fuel company formed a crisis unit to coordinate rescue operations.
