BBC: AL official and the Israeli practices in occupied territories
The Arab League Under Secretary General, Said Kamal, said Israeli Premier Ariel Sharon does not seek peace, adding Sharon'a cabinet program was based on escalation of tensions, assassinations, and seizure of more Palestinian lands.
Kamal said in an interview with the BBC that talk of "good-will gestures" was meaningless under Israel's current policy of rejecting withdrawal to June 4th 1967 border lines, or abiding by the land-for-peace formula.
For his part, a senior official of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine( PLFP) told the same Radio in a statement that resisting occupation was a right supported by the UN resolutions. Maher al-Taher added that Israel does not work for peace, stressing it was maneuvering and playing for time to build fresh settlements, and go on in the construction of the separation wall in the occupied West Bank.
