Palestinian groups agree to continue dialogue
In their statements which were made in conclusion of their talks in Cairo on Sunday evening, the 12 Palestinian groups stressed the need of continued "Inter- Palestinian dialogue."
The press statement which was drawn following four days of hard dialogue, under the auspices of Egypt, stressed "continued inter-Palestinian dialogue inside and outside Palestine."
The representative of the People's Front For the Liberation of Palestine, Maher al-Taher, who read the statement, said that the dialogue aims at achieving Palestinian national unity, and forming a united national leadership." The press statement replaces a final statement for the talks which were held in Cairo. It was not published because the Palestinian groups did not reach an agreement on a truce, and the issue of "giving permission to the Palestinian authority" to negotiate in the name of all on the cease fire.
The Palestinian groups stressed their "stand to establishing an independent Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as a capital, and the 'right of return' for the Palestinian refugees."
Al-Taher said that the "Palestinian detainees sent messages to participants in the Cairo meeting, asking them not to conclude a ceasefire agreement if they are not released." The Palestinian groups also extended "greetings to Egypt and to President Mubarak and Egypt's role in supporting the Palestinian cause."
