Al-Baath: Chechenean of Syrian origin is chairman of government
The Syrian daily al-Baath said on Wednesday that the Chechenian President Ahmad Qaderove appointed Muhammad Ziad Sabsabi, of the Syrian origin as a chairman of the presidency administration and the government in Chechenia.
The paper added that Sabsabi was born in Aleppo and completed his university study at Damascus university and completed his study at Linengrad university from where he received the Russian nationality in 1991.
The paper said that Sabsabi accompanied Qaderove in his foreign tour, considering that assigning this post to Sabsabi materializes an inclination from Qaderove towards the Arab states which seeks to develop relations between it and Russia in general and with Chechenia in particular.
The paper quoted Qaderove as expressing his readiness to make a tour to the Arab states. Worthy mentioning that Sabsabi worked as a professor at Grozni university, and joined politics as he assumed the presidency of the foreign relations department in the government of Jawhar Dodaieve, until 1994. He left this job because of differences in view points, according to al-Baath.
Sabsabi left Chechenia for Moscow where he worked in trade and with the representation of Chechenia in Moscow. Sabsabi's relation to Qaderove goes back when the latter was Chechenia's Mufti.
