A Syrian higher institute of population studies and researches

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad has issued law No. 32 for the year 2003 on setting up a scientific general panel of administrative nature called "The Higher Institute of Population Studies and Research."

The Damascus-based Institute enjoys the status of a corporate body, financially and administratively and is linked to the Minister of Higher Education. The institute is entitled to grant its students: Diploma of Rehabilitation and Specialization at Population Sciences (a 4-year university degree ), Diploma of Higher Studies at Population Sciences, Master Degree at Population Sciences and Ph.D. degree at Population Sciences.

The Institute aims to rehabilitate national human resources in the field of population studies and research, to help spread awareness in population sciences and to cooperate with Arab and foreign population centers.
