Europe-based NGOs refers to international criminal court cases of victims of Polisario torture
Three Europe-based associations defending the rights of populations sequestered in Tindouf (southwestern Algeria) by the separatist Polisario sent on Thursday to chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Luis Moreno Ocampo, a letter urging the international body to examine seriously the cases of victims of torture committed by the Polisario separatist group.
"Although the crimes were perpetrated before 1998, we want the international penal court to be informed about these barbarous acts committed by people who enjoy immunity," reads the letter that urges the criminal court to seriously examine the cases of victims who passed away under torture.
The three associations reported in the letter several cases of torture and massacres that the Polisario committed against several people "simply because they do not agree with its separatist theses."
The letter, a copy of which was also sent to the EU's high representative for security and external politics, Javier Solana, further cites concrete examples of people who still carry the scars of torture they underwent in the prisons of the separatists.
The associations are the Stockholm-based association of defense of the sequestered in Tindouf (ADESETI), the Netherlands-based association of the survivors of Polisario prisons (ASOCAPO) and the Barcelona-based association of Polisario victims (ASVIPO).
