American occupation rejects release of 37 Jordanians in Iraq
Some 37 Jordanians detained by the American occupation forces in Iraq urged the Jordanian government to work for releasing them.
In a written message addressed to the Jordanian foreign minister Marwan Muasher through their relatives in Jordan, the detainees said they are civilians and are held in a prison situated in Um Qaser to the south of Iraq after their detention by the American forces following the fall of Baghdad.
In their message, the detainees stressed that some of them are students in Iraqi universities and others are drivers of Jordanian truck companies and traders. They explained that the US forces responsible for detention give up releasing them after it notified them in May that they would be released and transported to Jordan through the International Committee of the Red Cross ICRC.
These persons also stressed that they did not create any action that justifies their detention. The families of the detainees handed over the Jordanian officials a list in the name of the detainees and called on the government to act for their release.
