Lahoud conferred with US ambassador on developments
Lebanese President Emile Lahoud underlined that the latest Israeli aggression on Syria and Lebanon are further proof that the "Israeli government does not only work against peace but also foil all initiatives to uphold calm and stability in the region."
President Lahoud said during a meeting with the U.S. ambassador in Beirut Vincent Pattel that maintaining the present situation would endanger stability in the Middle East and pave the way to extending tension.
He called on the U.S. to play an active role in reviving the Mid-East peace process by "supporting the UN role and enabling it to implement international resolutions so that just and comprehensive peace could be achieved in the region."
