Gaza: Five wounded in confrontations between Hamas, the Palestinian security

Originally published

Palestinian medical and local sources said that five persons were wounded at least in confrontations that took place on Thursday evening in Gaza between members of the Hamas movement and members of the Palestinian security.

The sources said that "five wounded persons arrived in al-Shefaa hospital in Gaza during confrontation between members of the security and Hamas members, including wounded in critical health conditions." The sources did not explain whether the wounded are members of Hamas, the security or civilians.

In a statement, an official spokesman for the Palestinian internal security department said that members from Hamas kidnapped on Wednesday one member of the security force. He added that "a special force from the internal security immediately detained 7 members of Hamas movement in the context of investigations to arrest the kidnappers and bring them before the justice."

The spokesman warned that "anyone who tries to undermine the unity of the Palestinian authority will be legally accounted." The statement called on the higher follow up committee of the National and Islamic groups to be an evidence of the acts of disorder and violation practiced by Hamas at the moments in which "we are drastically in need for the unity of our people amid the Israeli escalation."
