Morocco hosts international oil and gas conference
Morocco is hosting this September 14-17 the international Oil and Gas conference (MIOG 2003) themed "North africa, from Production to Distribution" that will focus on all aspects of petroleum industry.
National and international experts and professionals participating in the conference will focus debates on distribution and services, refining, transportation and environment. The encounter, initiated by the Internatrional Exhibition and Conferences (IEC Maroc) in partnership with the Moroccan refining company (SAMIR) will enable Moroccan and international companies to present their know-how and novelties in the evolving petroleum industry and reinforce partnerships that will help promote international cooperation in gas and oil industries.
"Aware of the important role of the petroleum sector in economic and social development, Morocco has adopted since its independence an energy policy based on the encouragement of oil exports and the setting up of an efficient national refining tool," SAMIR general director, Abderrahmane Saaidi, said. For his part, deputy-president of Morocco's oil grouping (GPM), Michel Faure, underscored that given the evolution of international standards concerning fuel quality, Morocco has to adapt to this new data to protect its natural environment and meet the demand of domestic consumption.
This is the 2nd conference of the kind in Morocco, after the first one saw tremendous success with a record participation of 1,139 participants from over 30 countries.
