King Mohammed dedicates housing projects northern Morocco
Morocco's King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Prince Moulay Rachid, dedicated here on Thursday housing projects part of Morocco's efforts to curb down unhealthy housing in the northern city.
The king heard explanations about the restructuring of RahRah and Charf neighbourhoods which extend over a 55-Hectare area.
The project which will benefit 960 families is valued at 40 million Dhs (US $4 million). Explanations were also given about "Sania" and "Al Mouhit" operations which are part of a strategy to fight unhealthy housing and of the program of 100,000 low-cost housing destined to low-income families.
Families living in two slums will be housed part of the "Sania" operation which consists of 914 Plots. The project extends over a 32-hectare area and will require a budget of 100 million Dhs.
Some 160 families living in houses likely to tumble down in "Al Hafa" neighbourhood will be housed part of the 5-hectare "Al Mouhit" operation that requires a 13,5 million DHS budget (US $1.3 million).
Two other neighbourhoods will also be rehabilitated for 29.5 million DHs (US $2.9) and will benefit 3140 families.
Nearly 2000 families will benefit from the second and third phases of the rehabilitation of "Mesnana" neighbourhood where works are due to end by the end of 2005.
