Omanisation of the economy ongoing
The Omani news agency reported yesterday that The Omanisation joint committee in the selling and the distribution sector held a meeting and "discussed the committee's work mechanism, the previous experience in Omanising the foodstuff selling and distribution sector and other pertinent topics."
Omanisation is the process of turning local jobs from foreign workers held to Omani citizens who are equally qualified to do the work.
The head of the commitee said that "Human resources managers at big companies should be Omanis in order to push the Omanisation process forward."
The report added "He said in a statement to Oman News Agency that the committee selected Mohammed bin Abdul Hussein Baqir as committee deputy chairman. It also agreed to pay some field visits during the upcoming period and to raise the Omanisation percentage in big supermarkets."
