The consortium also groups two other companies, the Portuguese airliner "Portugalia" and the Spanish group "Globalia" through its offshoot "Eurohandling" that is specialized in airport land assistance and which has the second license of Handling in Spain.

According to the company's delegate administrator, Fernando Pinto, TAP decided to present its candidature given its interest in Morocco which is a market of a large geographical proximity with a " strong growth potential."

During the official announcement of the candidature last Friday, Pinto said if RAM accepts the proposal, TAP will make "some investments in equipment."

The Moroccan company Regional Airlines has been operating for several years in the Portuguese market where it makes daily flights between Casablanca and Lisbon.

RAM will unveil the successful tenderer in September or at the end of the year at the latest.
