Portuguese cement group posts best turnover in Morocco
Portuguese cement group "CIMPOR" has posted in the first half of 2002 its best sales by the selling of cement in Morocco where it operates a plant.
Out of the group's consolidated results, CIMPOR sold a total of 344,000 tons of cement in Morocco out of 8.1 million tons sold in Portugal and in other countries where CIMPOR has plants (Spain, Tunisia, Egypt, Brazil and Mozambique.)
As regards the operational cash-flow, Morocco has contributed 9.9 million Euros, an increase of 14.7% compared to the same period of 2001. The Moroccan market contributes 5.4 percent of CIMPOR' s sales with 23.3 million Euros.
The Portuguese group sales in Portugal, Egypt, Brazil and Mozambique have regressed, mainly due to the devaluation of the Egyptian and Brazilian currencies.
