An Argentinean Institute has invited representatives from the Moroccan ancient cities of Fez, Marrakesh and Tetouan to attend a meeting on Latin American and Arab ancient cities, due next April in Buenos Aires.

Researchers and representatives of ancient cities will debate issues pertaining to the organization of urban life, heritage, architecture, costumes, arts, culture and economy.

Latin America and the Arab states have developed closer links, particularly due to the migration flows of the 19th century, said Stella Punta Ugalde, Director of the Argentinean Arab Culture Institute.

The Arab culture contributed to enriching the Latin American one through Spain and Portugal, she said, stressing the key role Arabs played in the emergence of the modern societies in Latin America.
