Morocco's newly-appointed premier continues consultation to form government
Morocco's newly appointed prime minister, Driss Jettou, is continuing consultation with political parties to form a new government that will replace the cabinet led by outgoing socialist prime minister, Abderrahmane Youssoufi.
Jettou met on Friday Mohamed Abied, acting secretary general of the Constitutional Union (UC), and Abdellah Kadiri, Secretary General of the National Democrat Party (PND).
This is the second meeting Jettou holds with the UC and PND leaders since he was appointed by King Mohammed VI on October 9, following the legislative elections of last September 27.
UC and PND won 16 and 12 seats respectively in the election, topped by Youssoufi's USFP with 50 seats in the future 325-seat house of representatives.
Meanwhile, the central committee of the USFP, winner of the legislative poll, said Friday it leaves it to the party's political bureau to decide on the organization's participation in the future government.
