Malawi withdraws recognition of sahrawi republic
Malawi on Monday announced the withdrawal of its recognition of the Sahrawi Republic (SADR/self-proclaimed by the Polisario), the Malawian foreign affairs and international cooperation ministry said.
"The ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation wishes to announce that the government of the republic of Malawi has withdrawn its recognition of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, with immediate effect," the ministry said in a release sent to MAP.
Malawi called on "all the parties concerned in the Western Sahara issue, to cooperate fully and to work together towards finding a lasting solution to the issue," the ministry said, adding "Malawi still maintains diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Morocco."
