Algeria: Security forces besiege 100 armed Islamists in al-Qabayel

The Algerian radio said on Wednesday that the security forces are cordoning 100 armed Islamists since Monday in the woods of al-Bweira in al-Qabayel area.

The same source said that the army which used heavy weapons destroyed several headquarters for the Islamists which contain weapons, ammunition and foodstuffs.

Algerian dailies said that those men belong to the al-Salafeyah ( Predestination) group for the call and fighting, led by Hassan Hattab and were preparing to convene a "conference" under the chairmanship of their leader in the mountains of this area. The paper explained that the gunmen blackmailed two camps in this area which had witnessed numerous moves for armed Islamists.
