Originally published

The Jordanian weekly al-Majd said in its recent issue that a group of Syrian intellectuals decided to form a citizen society that stands against Zionism and established a temporary board chaired by the retired judge and journalist Rajaa Nasser.

The society's provisional board decided to apply officially with sides concerned in order to license its foundation under the name "the people's society against Zionism and in support of Palestine." The society is to be independent from any party or political trend and will open the door before various intellectual trends which believe in the society's cultural appeal in order to join it and not to interfere in the daily political affairs.

The said society concentrated in its cultural appeal which it issued following a meeting for it on spreading awareness concerning the dimensions and dangers of racist Zionism against the Arab nationa and, on the other hand, stressed cultural, economic and political boycott of Israel and supporting all forms of resistance against it.
