Moussa: A Lebanese appointed as commissioner for Arab expatriates affairs

Originally published

Arab diplomatic sources in Cairo said that the general secretariat of the Arab League (AL) studies the nomination of one Lebanese living abroad to the post of the commissioner general for the affairs of Arab expatriates.

These sources unveiled that the AL secretary general Amr Moussa will announce later in March and before the convening of the Arab summit in Beirut the name of the new commissioner who will start his post of office immediately in order to study files and tasks assigned to him.

The sources indicated that this candidate will be the last commissioner to be appointed as Moussa will be only confined to appoint four commissioners after Hanan Ashrawi was appointed for media affairs, Taher al-Masri for the civil society and the former Egyptian minister Kamal Abu al-Majd as a commissioner for civilization dialogue affairs. However, the reform and re-structuring plan of the AL structure states the appointment of 7 commissioners general.
