Egyptian FM in Morocco to transmit Mubarak's message to king

Originally published

Egyptian foreign minister, Ahmed Maher, arrived in Casablanca on Tuesday to convey King Mohammed VI a message from Egyptian president, Hosni Mubarak.

Maher will also be meeting Moroccan peer, Mohamed Benaissa, over international and regional issues and means to consolidate bilateral relations.

Moroccan-Egyptian talks will cover the upcoming meeting of the joint high commission likely to be held in the first half of this year under the chairmanship of the two states' heads of state.

The two states had agreed to postpone the commission meeting, initially scheduled to be held on January 11, to a later date, in view of the situation in the Middle East and developments in the region. President Mubarak was expected in Morocco for the meeting.

Maher said the delay gives more time to the two states to finalize some subjects on the joint high commission's agenda and add other items related to political, economic and trade fields.
