Originally published

The third conference of Islamic culture ministers approved at the end of its session on Sunday the project to create an Islamic satellite TV channel.

The project, which was prepared by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Rabat-based ISESCO, an organ of the Organization of Islamic Conference) seeks to disseminate the true image of Islamic civilization worldwide.

The conference called Islamic countries to bring the needed support and backing to the project and invited ISESCO and competent authorities in Qatar, where the TV channel will be based, to follow up the project.

The Islamic culture ministers also chose Mecca as the Islamic culture capital for 2003.
