Syria: Bikhtyar appointed as director of general intelligence in Syria

Lt. Gen. Hisham Bikhtyar was appointed as a chairman for the General intelligence department ( state security) in succession for Lt. Gen. Ali Hammoud who assumed the post of the minister of the Interior in the new Syrian government.

This decision of appointing Bikhtyar was released by the commander general of the Army and armed forces, and President of the Republic. Bikhtyar is in the beginning of his 60s.
