Originally published

The chairman of the higher council for the Islamic revolution in Iraq Muhammad Baqer al-Hakim has stated that what happened in Afghanistan can not be applicable on Iraq.

In a statement to the Iranian daily " Joumhori Islami" issued on Wednesday, al-Hakim said that the international position concerning Iraq is greatly different from that concerning Afghanistan and:" we do think that the American attack on Iraq will face international problems."

He added:" we will not cooperate, nor ally with the US concerning the future of Iraq and we do believe on the need of establishing an Islamic government in Iraq by relying on our internal potentials and the people's base inside Iraq, rather the interference of foreign forces." He indicated that it was agreed with several Iraqi parties and movements to form a comprehensive coalition government following the fall of the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
