Iraqi president calls for convening an Arab summit
The Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has called on the Arab states to convene an urgent Arab summit in Mecca or in any other Arab capital in order to discuss the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians.
In a call broadcast by all Iraqi TV channels and radio stations, the Iraqi President said that this summit is necessitated by the need to support " our people in Palestine in their severe crisis." He considered that talking about convening the periodical Arab summit in March 2002 is like one who stands on fire and hopes the possibility of having a fire extinguished after several months.
The Iraqi President warned that if " evil" would be able to achieve its aims there ( in Palestine ) its greed for more will expand to target our Arab people in other parts of our Arab homelands."
