The Arab group at the United Nations requested on Thursday an emergency meeting of the United Nations security council after Israel decided to isolate Palestinian president Yasser Arafat.
According to Palestinian delegate Nasser Al-Qidwa, the Arab group has decided on Thursday to request an immediate meeting of the security council.
In Cairo, secretary general of the Arab league, Amr Moussa, also called the security council to meet the soonest.
The Palestinian delegate said he wanted a public meeting on Thursday night or Friday morning, and that the Arab group will submit a draft resolution that calls for an end to violence, the enforcement of the Mitchell report recommendations and the creation of a surveillance system.
