Moratinos: difficulties in meeting with Sharon
The EU - ME special envoy Miguel Angle Moratinos has stressed that the European Troika delegation has met difficulties during its meeting with the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon.
In a statement to the Lebanese daily al-Nahar issued on Tuesday, Moratinos added that the reason behind these difficulties was that the European delegation asked for the implementation of the Mitchell report immediately while Sharon refused that and asked for a seven days for that.
Moratinos said that the European delegation asked Israel to stop its violations of the Lebanese airspace but the Israelis claimed that this falls in the context of preventive measures. " We have asserted to them ( the Israelis) that is not necessary and we will continue to persist on this position." Moratinos commented.
