Sharon government criticizes Europe, refuses UN envoy proposals

Originally published

The government of Sharon has refused a proposal by the UN envoy Terry Rod Larsen that states for Israel's complete withdrawal from Gaza and evacuating the settlements as well as withdrawal from an area of 1% in the West bank.

News reports said the Israeli rejection was expressed by the Israeli minister Dan Meridor following his meeting with the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon concerning Larsen's meeting.

In this regard, the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon called on the European Union to halt financing the Palestinian Authority with 90 million EURO dedicated to support the Palestinians in confrontation of the Israeli siege.

Sharon also told the European delegation, currently visiting the Palestinian territories under the chairmanship of the Belgian prime minister his rejection to resume negotiations with the Palestinian authorities (PA) unless the PA abides by Israel's conditions to halt what he called " violence." Sharon claimed that his government is ready to give " painful concessions" for peace but will not give up what he called the security of Israel.

In an attempt to perpetuate Israeli claims the Israeli radio claimed that a bomb was found near " King David Hotel" in Jerusalem where Sharon was hosting the European delegation at a luncheon banquet.
