El-Minya to get L.E 5 million museum

"The government will offer an international tender to build a new museum in El-Minya next month," an official said yesterday.

"The LE 5 million cultural facility is part of existing cooperation between Egypt and Germany," Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni said. Germany has agreed to partially fund construction of the museum.

"The new museum, which will overlook the east bank of the Nile in El-Minya, will be built on 25 acres and surrounded by a 25 acre-garden. Its composite pyramid design will reflect the sun's rays throughout the day," Hosni said. The museum is expected to be operational after two years.
