Morocco's FM leads delegation to Euro-Mediterranean conference

Originally published

Moroccan minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Mohamed Benaissa, will be leading the Moroccan delegation to the conference of Euro-Mediterranean foreign ministers, slated this November 5-6 in Brussels.

The informal meeting will examine effects of last September 11's attacks against the USA on the Euro-Mediterranean region and means to consolidate cooperation within the region to alleviate these effects. The heads of diplomacies will also look into means to promote dialogue between civilizations and erase misunderstandings in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

The latest developments in the Middle East and other issues related to the Euro-Mediterranean process, mainly economic development and social issues are also on the agenda.

The Brussels meeting is held a few days after the extraordinary session of the Mediterranean forum held last October 25-26 in the Moroccan Atlantic city of Agadir at the initiative of King Mohammed VI. The forum looked into the struggle against terrorism and its political and economic effects on the region.
