Blair carries a new initiative to settle the Palestinian question

The London- Based al-Sharq al-Awsat daily issued on Wednesday said that the British prime minister Tony Blair is carrying with him in his tour to Israel and the Palestinian territories a new initiative to settle the Palestinian question.

The paper added in its Wednesday's issue that Blair had discussed this initiative with Washington, Moscow and the UN. The paper added that this initiative is based on implementing Tenet's security understanding, the Mitchell package of recommendations and resuming of negotiations on the ground of UN resolutions 242 and 338, calling for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
