The Jordanian- Moroccan joint higher committee

Originally published

Meetings of the Moroccan- Jordanian joint higher committee will be held today in Amman under the chairmanship of the Moroccan prime minister Abdul Rahman al-Yousefi and his Jordanian counterpart Ali Abu al-Ragheb.

In this context the Jordanian- Moroccan technical committee started its works in preparations for the joint higher committee meeting and a revision was made for the minutes of meeting of the committee's first session which was held in 1998. The two aides followed up the implementation of the free trade agreement they signed in light of the fact that no progress was attained at the level of trade exchange between the two countries.

The secretary general of the Jordanian ministry of industry and commerce Samer al-Tawil said that the committee also discussed means of maintaining cooperation in the field of investment and administrative cooperation between the customs departments in the two countries and negotiations on the draft agreement to prevent double taxation. He indicated the possibility of revitalizing reciprocated joint investment in light that industrialists in Morocco are experienced in exporting to the European market and due to the fact that Jordan has signed free trade agreements with the European Union and the US that will be put into actual implementation by the beginning of 2002.
