Al-Shara confers with Austrian counterpart on regional issues

The Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara on Monday received the Austrian foreign minister, currently visiting Syria and members of the accompanying delegation. Senior foreign ministry officials and the Austrian ambassador in Damascus attended the meeting.

Discussions dealt with conditions in the region and on the international arena.

The Foreign minister al-Shara noted the suffering of the Palestinians people as a result of the policy of oppression conducted by the Israeli occupation forces. He stressed the need that the international community as a whole and Europe in Particular have to play to put an end to the Israeli practices and serious work to end the Israeli occupation of the Arab territories.

Concerning the international condition, especially in light of the destructive attacks against the US, al-Shara renewed Syria's condemnation of all forms of terrorism and called for putting end to this " epidemic " in every part of the world through an organized international effort and in the framework of the UN.
