Network of Arab social sciences searchers to be set up
Participants in the international colloquy on social sciences in contemporary Arab world held in Marrakesh September 18 through 22 called for the setting up of a network of Arab social sciences searchers to contribute to the development of these sciences.
The network would foster the exchange of information among Arab searchers and would sponsor meetings and colloquies on Arab sciences at the local, regional and international levels.
Searchers from the Arab world and France who debated the progress made by social sciences research in the Arab world, and means to promote regular exchanges between searchers and consequently contribute to the development of social sciences, also called for an enhanced cooperation with international organizations dealing with social sciences and for promoting Arab academic institutions.
The colloquy provided searchers with the opportunity to trade experience and compare their approaches, methodology and research mechanisms.
The colloquy drew a balance sheet of social sciences in the Arab world and sought ways of promoting rapprochement between social science searchers and political decision makers and of integrating social sciences in struggle for development.
Delegates of several international organizations, including the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and the UN Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) attended the colloquy.
